This sermon was on how God provides "just enough". Proverbs 30 is a great reminder that amidst controversy, injustice, and hardship God still provides what we need.

I was thinking about the silly material objects that college students, including myself, may collect and treasure more than they should in the way that a Magpie bird collects shiny objects. In Ecclesiastes, we learn that while all these things are wonderful, they don't nearly compare to the value of the eternal life and love that God offers us.

The theme for this sermon on confession reminded me of the Japanese art practice, Kintsugi or “golden joinery”. When pottery is broken, instead of throwing it out or attempting to glue it together seamlessly, the cracks are mended with a red tree sap lacquer and then dusted with powdered gold. When we confess to God, He doesn’t just put us back together but He also renews our brokenness into something beautiful and valuable.
Lost & Found

This piece was inspired by the parable of the wandering sheep in Matthew 18 where a shepherd seeks after the one lost sheep out of a hundred. God's concern for each individual stuck out to me in this parable and also the call to return to Him and community for those who feel lost.

In the Parable of the Weeds, weeds are planted in a wheat field but the servants are instructed not to pull them out or it may ruin the wheat too. Similarly, God instructs us not to judge others in His name lest we end up hurting what He is trying to grow.

In looking at the genealogy of Jesus, I am amazed at the variety of people and (sometimes pretty bad) situations God used for His good, from the son of a servant to a king to a carpenter. It makes me wonder what people God is using today that are overlooked.

This piece is themed around finding a child-like joy through Christ.
Chatting With God

I've found that in my relationship with God, prayer means simply chatting with Him throughout the day. It's not always super exciting or "spiritual" but it doesn't need to be!
By His Side

This piece is how I imagine my relationship with God. We can find belonging in "walking with Jesus" in the way that a sheep belongs with the shepherd.
